This plastic phone is disappointing. I was expecting it to be made of wood, as implied by it’s name. Everything the other reviewer said I find to be true – it falls off the wall due to poor construction in the back. The hand piece does not rest well in the cradle. I replaced the ringer so that is not currently a problem. I think it should look very nice on the set of my show however.

The description of this product says “Antique Wooden Wall Telephone / Phone Reproduction”. So I was expecting “wood” of course. Not so. The “wood” looking areas are shiny plastic with a fake wood grain. It’s a decent job of replicating the look of wood, but still is not “wooden. ” I would not have purchased if I knew that. The antique “brass” areas (also largely plastic) look very good however. I like that the phone has an operable storage area near the bottom of the phone — only trouble is, you have to remove the handset in order to lift the lid. The ring has a digital sound to it, not an old fashioned jingle that I was hoping for. Hand crank on the right side works, but doesn’t make any sound when you turn it and feels a little flimsy. That shouldn’t be a problem though since it’s only for decoration. Wall mount is inadequate; ours is wiggling and would need more support if we were to keep it. Overall, if you don’t mind the fact that it’s a plastic phone and can fuss around with the wall mounting, it would be okay. We just wanted wood as advertised in the headline.
